2011 2012 2013 2014 VW GTi car radio removal installation test instruction
1. Begin by disconnection the negative (-) terminal of your battery. For this vehicle you will need a 10mm socket or a 10mm wrench. Undue your terminal and make sure it stays disconnected until you are done with the install.
2. Please remove the trim piece around your factory radio.
Make sure to not pry only on one side as to avoid damaging or breaking your trim piece. Always start on one side and work your way around.
3. Once the trim piece is removed you will see four (4) torx screws that will need to be removed.
4. Remove all four screws in order to gain access to the back of the radio to remove all harnesses. Then pull forward to expose back of radio.
5. With radio pulled forward you can start by removing all harnesses. For this specific vehicle we will remove two antennas (am/fm and satellite) as well as the main harness.
To remove both antennas, please firstly press down on the tab then pull back. This works for both satellite “seen in above pic with green connector” and the AM/FM antenna “seen above in with white connector”
To remove the main harness, press down on the tab located inside the black connector, then pull black lever located at bottom of harness to release it from the radio “see following pic”
6. Once all three connecting harness has been removed you can set your factory radio off to the side as it will not be needed.
Now you will have the three (3) or more connecting harnesses ready for your new Seicane radio.
7. To begin the installation of your new radio, you will need to find a place for your GPS antenna. In this installation we will install it behind the middle two vents.
If you choose this location, begin by removing the two (2) torx 20 screws located right below them.
8. Once removed, using your fingers and the panel removal tool push/pull up and forward to release the vents. It may seem really hard at first as there are four metal clips holding it in place. Just remember to not pry more on one side as to avoid damage to your car parts.
9. Replace any clips that may have come off during the removal of the vents. Then pull on the wiring harness that connects to the hazard light switch to give you enough slack to place vents on dash.
10. Now we can place GPS antenna and using silicone “for this location of install” to prevent the antenna from moving around.
Put silicone at the base and run antenna behind and above the vents, hold in place until silicone dries. You may use other products such as hot glue as well.
With GPS antenna placed, run your wire around the left or right side and feed cable through middle opening “see below pic”.
11. Now put back your vents and screw back both torx screws. Place back in the same manner as they were removed. Make sure not to pinch the antenna wire.
Now we can begin to install the Seicane harnesses.
12. Start with the main harness, to connect simply pull lever up from factory harness. Push Seicane connector all the way in then push lever down to latch on both harnesses. Next Install the AM/FM harness by pushing in the one end to the factory antenna on the one side with the locking clip.
13. Now we can connect all the harnesses to your new Seicane radio.
14. Here we can see the both antennas connected as well as the main power harness and other audio/video connections along with the USB.
To see which connectors go in each port see the following pics “depending on the added accessories you may have purchased this may vary”
15. Ensure all connections are placed in the correct port to avoid damage to your new Seicane radio. The following is the illustration of all the correct port connections. Make note that the two sets of aux rca cables are connected to ensure your factory aux input works.
16. In order to make this unit function properly including your Bluetooth you will need to disconnect the factory unit from your vehicle “if equipped”.
Please note: This module can be found under the passenger seat, access it by pushing the seat all the way back. Then please use your fingers pull up and forward. The styrofoam is held by Velcro so no need to worry about clips.
17. Once removed, press down on the black tab located in the middle of the white clip and pull black lever up to removed harness. Place harness back into opening to avoid rattles and damage to harness from seat.
18. Now you can connect the main power to your Seicane unit and place into dash “without screwing it into place”.
Reconnect the negative (-) terminal of your battery.
You will now see your Seicane unit boot up.
Now your installation is completed!
You can do a quick test by scrolling on the screen and testing the sound by using the radio or other sources to ensure all connections were made properly.
19. You can now screw the unit back into place by using the original torx screws.
20. Then place back the trim piece. Place all the way around first then push left and right sides following by lower and upper sides.
Before installation, please make clear every detailed step. If you have any doubts, please contact your dealer, communicate with someone experienced or turn to a professional for help. Or you can straightly go to a car radio upgrade center to ask a technician to help install the new car radio.
